Stora Ullen is a deep, approximately 7 km2 clear water lake located a few km SE of Hagfors. The lake is a drinking water source for Hagfors and Munkfors.
There are natural populations of trout, char, perch and pike here. There are also whitefish, chub, roach and eel, as well as planted Gullspångsöring (fin-clipped).
A simple place for boat launching is at the lake's outlet in Hagälven (Ullendammen). However, it is not suitable for large vehicles. A shelter with a barbecue area is located on the shore on the western side of Långnäsudden. A 300 m long path leads to the shelter from the road that runs north of the lake.
