Ymsen är en 1300 ha stor slättsjö kringgärdad av skogs- myr- och jordbruksmark. Här får besökaren tillgång till en rofylld fiskemiljö. Det finns anslutningar från allmän väg på flera platser.
Max. djup ca 4 m. Bottnen består i huvudsak av lera med inslag av hårdbotten i strandzonen.
Isen lägger sig tidigt så vinterfiske med pimpel är populärt. Sommartid är mete den fiskemetod som oftast ger utdelning.
Det finns minst 12 fiskarter i sjön. De vanligaste är gös, gädda, abborre, mört, gers och
braxen
