The association was formed in -91 in response to the rebuilding of the outlet of Hornborgasjön to regulate the water level in the lake. It has worked to ensure a sufficient water supply in the river with satisfactory oxygen levels. The goal is to protect the fish species that have the conditions to live in the river.
