The fisheries management area has its roots in a fishing association that was formed in the late 1950s to combat external predatory fishing and enable an orderly sale of fishing licenses to the public. Over the years, the association has been responsible for many efforts to improve fishing in the lake, such as repeated stocking of fish fry and maintenance of vases. The association allows most of the income to go “back to the lake” through various fisheries management efforts. The association began liming the lake early on and this has been ongoing continuously since then, with the result that the water is of the highest quality.
