Spånens FVOF is mainly run as an interest association to monitor the lake biologically.

The association is tasked with conducting good fisheries management for the fishing right holders and for the lake's recreational fishermen. The association works to improve service and accessibility. Spånens FVO was formed in 1962 and was reorganized in 1988 to Spånens FVOF.
