The Bullaresjöarna are Bohuslän's largest lakes and fill 30 km of the 100 km long rift valley that stretches from Halden at Idefjorden in the north to Gullmarsfjorden in the south.
North Bullaresjörän is, with its 39 meters, one of the deepest lakes in the county.
South Bullaresjörän has a maximum depth of 26 meters. The runoff from the Bullaresjöarna is north via the Norwegian Enningdalsälven to the Idefjorden.
The following fish species are found in the Bullaresjöarna: perch, pike, roach, bream, carp, rudd, bream, whitefish, chub, eel, minnow, trout and salmon.
The Bullares fishery management area includes North and South Bullaresjön, Aspen, Busjön and Stärkelandshöjden.
