Spexhultasjöns Fiskevårdsområde was established by decision of the County Administrative Board in 1978. It is managed by the Spexhultasjöns Fiskevårdsområde association, where all fishing right holders are automatically members.

According to the statutes, among other things, "The purpose of the Fiskevårdsområde is to promote and organize fishing in the said waters and to allow fishing through the sale of fishing licenses to the public".
