Åby Älvs Nedre Fiskevårdsområde was formed in the late 1980s to, on behalf of the fishing rights holders, conduct management and administration of the fishing in the river.

The fishery management area extends from the fresh and salt water boundary at Renholmen quay up to the suspension bridge in Blåfors. It also includes the lakes Bastusjön, Åbyträsket and Djupsjön.
