The Transjön and other lakes' fisheries management association dates back to the early 1940s. In 1988, the association was reorganized into the Transjön-Svansjöns fisheries management area association, which includes the lakes Transjön, Stora Svansjön, Lilla Svansjön, Strutssjön, Åkersjön, Lillasjön, Hallasjön and Sutaresjön.

The association's purpose is to manage the fisheries in the lakes it covers and to grant and make the fisheries available to the public. The fisheries management area's revenues are used to promote fisheries and water conservation in the area.
