Stiftelsen Glaskogen

In order to protect Glaskogen's significant natural and aesthetic values, the Värmland County Administrative Board designated Glaskogen as a nature reserve on 28 October 1970. The decision emphasized the area's wilderness character and scenic environments with numerous lakes and watercourses.

The Glaskogen Nature Reserve Foundation was established in 1972 by the municipalities of Arvika, Eda, Säffle and Årjäng, which are part of the area. The foundation's purpose is to promote the development of outdoor activities. Since 1986, the foundation has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of all facilities within the reserve.

The foundation's board is accompanied by an advisory body with representatives from Stora Enso AB, the reserve manager, individual landowners, the nature conservation association, and hunting and fishing conservation organizations.

Glaskogen's Fishing Card is the result of a collaboration between the Glaskogen Foundation, Stora Enso AB and the fisheries management associations in Hillringsbergs FVOF, Järnsjöns FVOF, Stora Börs FVOF, Stora Gla FVOF, Sölje FVOF and Övre Gla FVOF.

In recent years, the fisheries management associations have worked hard to strengthen fish stocks. Partly through the restoration of streams and rivers that were previously used for rafting, and partly by releasing rice pots.
