The estate with all its crofts and the workforce that was available constituted its own small social system from the beginning of the 17th century. But the history of the estate goes back much further than that. The Rössjöholm manor house that we see today was built in 1735, but already during the late 14th century there was a castle, probably located on an isthmus in Kyrksjön.
