A fishing license is required to fish with hand gear (rod fishing, angling, ice fishing, etc.) from a drifting boat or other floating craft. (see Fishing licenses for the general public)

Fishing licenses for the public
200:- for a day license (24 hours) 600:- weekly license (7 days) 1500:- annual license (365 days)
Trolling with a maximum of 10 rods in a boat (boat in motion) (the person holding a rod during fishing must have a fishing license). For fishing methods such as spinning, angling, ice fishing, vertical fishing, etc., each person fishing must have a fishing license. Rowing, electric motor or combustion engine are allowed.
Free fishing license with hand gear for young people up to 18 years of age. The free Fishing License must follow other rules that apply to the Skagerrak. Free fishing license must be purchased at ifiske.se.
Rules for everyone (fishing license owners and fishing license buyers)
• All catches of trout/salmon must be released (does not apply to fishing license owners when, for example, using nets, but common sense applies here)
• Zander fishing ban from April 15 to June 15. This is to cover the entire spawning period. (no net ban and no release obligation for fishing rights holders, but common sense must be applied here, i.e. one should avoid net fishing during the period so that the pike perch population reproduces optimally)
• Mandatory catch reporting applies to everyone who buys a fishing license on iFiske. Everyone who fishes with a net must report catches per season to skagernsfvof@gmail.com. This is compiled for each annual meeting.
Net fishing or crayfish fishing is not included for the public but is reserved for the fishing rights holder or lessee. Only fishing with hand gear (including trolling) is permitted for a fishing license buyer.
Filling in the fishing license
The name of the fishing license buyer must be on the fishing license that must accompany the buyer.
The Swedish place of residence or the country from which the buyer comes is sufficient address information. This is to prevent transfer. The buyer does not need to be asked for identification when purchasing a fishing license, this is done by the fishing inspector when checking on the lake.
The fishing license buyer decides for themselves from which date they want to start fishing. This date must be filled in on the line "Valid from…." and not left open at the time of sale.

Individual crayfish ponds must be marked clearly with, for example, a floating ball in a visible color. The fishing area extends from downstream of the Letälven power plant and the entire Skagerrak down to the bridge before the Gullspång power plant.
Rules for Tenants of fishing rights
A lease agreement must be signed. (three copies: the fishing rights owner, the lessee and the fishing area association). In the case of joint fishing, all co-owners must agree that part of the fishing is leased out.
There are two types of leases; agricultural leases and commercial fishing leases.
Agricultural leases or Commercial Fishing Leases. (Fish Act §16). Commercial fishing leases are regulated by the Act (1957:390) on fishing leases, which has a structure similar to the provisions on agricultural leases. This Act only concerns leases for commercial fishing or "other fishing of essential importance to the lessee's livelihood".
In the case of an agricultural lease, the lessee may use the fishing right that belongs to the land unless otherwise agreed.
• Illegal or illegal fishing will be reported to the police.
In case of violation of local regulations, an inspection fee will be imposed.
5000SEK • Fishing with a net that exceeds a certain maximum length.
2000SEK
• Violation of the maximum/minimum length of fish. (does not apply to net fishing)
• Violation of the maximum number of fish (can go up to 5000:- depending on the number) (does not apply to net fishing)
• Violation of the conservation period. (does not apply to net fishing)
• Fishing in a protected area
• Use of unauthorized bait or lure or unauthorized number of gear
1000SEK
• Violation of other regulations established by the association.
Repeated violations result in an increase in the inspection fee, maximum 5000SEK.
In some cases, it may be illegal fishing, e.g. violation of the maximum number of fish.
If the catch is greater than what is stated in the rules, the fishing license is forfeited and invalid, and then it is illegal fishing because the fishing license buyer does not have a fishing license.
The fee must be paid within 30 days, after which the matter will be forwarded to debt collection.
Fishing supervision
The fishing supervisor's task is to prevent violations of and check that
established fishing rules are followed. The supervisor wears a clearly visible service card.
The following rules apply to the fishing supervisor
a) rules, a list of fishing license sellers and identification are brought
b) in the event of measures against illegal fishing, which involve the seizure of gear, these are handed over
to the police authorities in Gullspång, Mariestad, Kristinehamn, Degerfors and Laxå respectively. The board is notified
c) the sale of fishing licenses in connection with fishing supervision on the lake must not occur
