Here is some information, advice and rules that we want you to take note of before you start fishing. The area is called Slagnäs-Bastusels fiskevårdsområde / Slagnäs Fiskevatten (Slagnäs Samfällighetsförening) and extends from Naustajaure (approx. 6 km upstream of Slagnäsforsen, marked “fishing limit” on the map) down to the dam in Bastusel. Downstream from Brännudden, in addition to our card, the Domän fishing card also applies. See Domän’s map fishing magazine for information on where their card is valid.
Fishing rules for hand gear: General provisions. The fishing card is personal and cannot be transferred to another person. However, children under 16 years of age fish for free. The card must be shown upon request. Your own boat may be used.
New rules: One fin-trimmed trout over the applicable minimum size may be killed per fisherman per day. This is therefore a question of farmed and released Bergnäs trout. All wild trout regardless of size and condition must be released. This also applies to damaged fish. A description of how to correctly release is provided in the fishing license appendix.
Protect wild fish: In Slagnäs, we release farmed Bergnäs trout every year to create better fishing, and these can be recognized by the fact that the adipose fin between the caudal and dorsal fins has been cut away. The few remaining wild trout in the river always have their adipose fins, and we ask you sprat fishermen to release these and thereby help preserve the trout population in Slagnäs for the future.
Please note!!! Special rules apply to the stretch of the railway bridge and about 600 meters downstream: Fishing is prohibited in the river stretch between January 1st - until the second Friday in June - and from August 16th - December 31st. Fishing is always prohibited above the railway bridge up to the power plant and 100 m upstream of the power plant. Fishing therefore starts in the river on the second Saturday in June (at: 00:01) - until August 15th
Other: We would like you to behave towards others in the same way that you yourself would like to be treated. Do not litter here in nature and make fires with discretion. A couple of good tips for those of you who want to be near and on the water: Use a life jacket and do not drink alcohol. We wish you all a nice time with us, hope that you get YOUR DREAM FISH.

A hook is only used when you are absolutely sure that the hooked fish has its fins clipped Within the area from the railway bridge down to Brännuddstrykkarn (see map) the following applies: It is prohibited to fish with live and dead bait (marked "worm limit" on the map).
Fishing restrictions: Within the area from the railway bridge down to Brännuddstrykkarn (see map), the following applies: minimum size for grayling is 25 cm and for trout 35 cm. It is prohibited to fish with live and dead bait (marked “worm limit” on the map).
