Children up to 13 years of age fish for free when accompanied by a guardian. However, the guardian must have a fishing license. All rules regarding fishing must be followed by both children and adults.
The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred. The fishing license must be presented at fishing inspections. All fishing according to applicable freshwater regulations.
The number of fishing licenses is limited to 15 fishing licenses/day. The fishing license is only valid when fishing from land on the special stretch Backenvattnet. The regular fishing licenses in the lower fishing area of the Umeälven are not valid on Backenvattnet.
To increase knowledge about fishing and any catches, everyone who fishes on the stretch must report their fishing. With your fishing report, we can learn more about which fish are caught, how big they are, etc.

Methods
Fishing from land with hand gear, maximum one rod per person and card. Fishing from a boat is not permitted. Only fishing with a single hook is permitted on Backenvattnet. All different types of fishing lures and flies must be fished with a single hook. Reasoning: During periods, small (25-49 cm) and wild trout can bite healthily on the hook. These must be released back into the river. To prevent them from being harmed and to make releasing them easy, we have introduced the single hook rule on Backenvattnet.
Rotational fishing applies on Backenvattnet. A cast means one step downstream to make room for the next fisherman. Reasoning: This rule is applied when there are many fishermen on the stretch. This means that everyone gets the chance to fish everywhere. After each cast, you take one step downstream so that the next fisherman gets a place upstream from you.
Catch restrictions
Trout Minimum size 50 cm. Only farmed trout is allowed to be caught and kept. Farmed trout lack an adipose fin. You are allowed to catch and keep a maximum of 3 farmed trout per fisherman per day. Other species When catching perch, pike and other species, common sense applies.
Other
We recommend nylon line. Braided lines never break down in nature and can be harmful to life in the river. We recommend the environmental sinker over the lead sinker to protect the environment. We recommend an electric motor instead of a petrol engine. Be considerate of shore anglers. Fishing supervision may take place both from a boat and from land. Please respect the rules and limits. We urge our fishing guests to use good fishing ethics and common sense. Leave the water as you want to find it again!
