Lake Sommen - Applicable regulations for fishing permit holders from 2023-01-01.
Fishing may not be conducted closer than 50 meters from a jetty or built-up area unless special permission has been obtained from the owner. Fishing may not take place in such proximity to exposed nets or gear that these are damaged. A fishing permit entitles you to fish in Lake Sommen according to applicable regulations with only hand-held fishing such as angling, ice fishing, casting rod, fly rod and drag. Max. two gear (lines or baits) per card or. When towing a boat, max. 4 fishing baits per boat for 2 or more people with a fishing permit via an affiliated fishing club. Rod fishing is permitted. Fishing may not take place in such proximity to exposed nets or gear that these are damaged. Trolling fishing permits also entitle you to trolling with a deep rig or rod. A maximum of six fishing lures may be used at the same time per boat. Surface otter fishing, sea otter fishing and surface trolling with planerboards are not permitted. Participants on a boat that engages in trolling fishing must have a valid trolling fishing permit, and the rest must have a valid fishing permit. We recommend: Single hook when trolling to minimize damage to released fish. Fishing permit holders must respect and be informed about closed periods and protected areas for char and trout as well as bird protection within the Sommen water area. The fishing permit or control number must always be carried on the fishing trip and can be shown upon request to the police, fishing inspector or water rights owner. When checking the fishing permit, the gear must be taken up in order to facilitate control. The fishing permit is personal but also applies to spouses, partners and children/youth up to and including 17 years of age. If the child is not in the presence of a parent, identification and the parent's fishing license must be presented upon request. Young people up to and including the age of 15 fish without a fishing license, but with the same regulations that apply to the lake.
Catching of char and lake trout is prohibited from September 16 to December 31 in the entire lake. Anyone who catches any fish of these species during the conservation period must release the fish. See recommendation below. Directed fishing for these species is prohibited during this period. During this time, all fishing is prohibited within the four conservation areas 1 - 4. The following minimum dimensions for catching apply, Pike: 40 cm, Lake trout: 65 cm, Zander: 50 cm, Char: 65 cm, ÅI: 60 cm. Caught char and lake trout that are not to be kept or that are below the applicable minimum size should be soaked for a few minutes in a tub or similar before returning.
Prohibited fishing method - Directed vertical fishing using echo sounder is only permitted in Sommens western creek (Sommenfjärden, Boxholmsfjärden, Tranåssjön and Torpafjärden) with restrictions of Torpöbron in the south and Färjeläget in the north. When fishing, hook gear that is adapted to snatch the fish may not be used. The regulations do not prevent the use of a hook to salvage fish that has been caught with other gear.
