Important steps to minimize damage to the fish when releasing
- Prepare: Use a rubberized net and sufficiently coarse equipment to shorten the time the fish is hooked.
- Unhook: Leave the fish in the net. Use pliers to unhook the fish, do not lift the fish out of the water. Let the fish swim out of the net under its own power.
