Temporary dietary recommendation for consumption of fish from the southern Bothnian Sea.
In consultation with the Swedish National Food Agency and the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland, the Environmental Committee has developed a temporary dietary recommendation for consumption of fish caught in the southern part of Bothnian Sea in Karlsborg Municipality.
The dietary recommendation is established due to elevated levels of PFAS in fish, which can cause negative health effects with prolonged exposure. The dietary recommendation is valid temporarily and until the Environmental Committee decides otherwise.
More information about the temporary dietary recommendation can be read on the Environmental Cooperation Eastern Skaraborg website: Temporary dietary recommendation for consumption of fish from southern Lake Bothnia (miljoskaraborg.se)
Rules for fishing in Lake Bothnia
KFFF has signed an agreement (usage rights agreement) with the Lake Bothnia Fisheries Conservation Association (BoFo) and is taking over the operations for fishing and fish conservation in the lake until further notice. Read the following BEFORE fishing begins. Ignorance of the rules below will NOT be accepted as an excuse for violating the regulations. Lake Bothnia below refers to all water from the lower lock gate in Forsvik, from the dam in Forsviksån, across the mouths of inflowing rivers and streams and into the mouth of Göta Canal in Karlsborg.
A fishing license is required to fish in Lake Bothnia. The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred. The validity period is stated on the card. Only one fishing license (Small or Large fishing license) is valid per person. Young people under the age of 16 do not require a fishing license for hand gear, but must follow the rules that apply to fishing. It is pointed out that in addition to internal rules, the General Fishing Regulations (County Statute) also apply to Lake Bothnia. Compliance with the rules and regulations will be monitored by appointed supervisors. A valid fishing license must always be presented upon inspection. All fishing is conducted for domestic purposes.
