FISHING REGULATIONS 2026

FISHING CARD Everyone who practices fishing must have the right to fish by being a card holder. Children under 18 years of age fish for free within FVO even without a guardian but must follow the applicable rules for the respective water. Free fishing for children does not apply when fishing in our put & take waters (P&T) with planted rainbow trout such as e.g. Skepphusvik etc. where a special fishing card (daily card) is required. Fishing cards available for purchase are annual cards, weekly cards and daily cards as well as special daily cards for P&T waters. There are also guest cards and group cards. Fishing cards can be purchased via www.ifiske.se and through our agents. A list of agents, price list and fishing map can be found on our website; www.mvfvof.se.   Category 1 (partner/fishing rights owner/local resident) Partners/fishing rights owners are considered owners of agricultural property with a share in village common fishing within the parishes of Mora and Våmhus in Mora municipality. Part owners are entitled to redeem a part owner card as well as a guest card for an accompanying guest. Also the spouse and children of part owners/fishing rights owners as well as their respective spouses are entitled to redeem a part owner card. The property designation that has the fishing right must be stated when purchasing a card. Category 1 also includes local residents, i.e. registered residents within the parishes of Mora and Våmhus. Living outside the FVO but owners of other properties (without fishing rights) within its boundaries are considered as local residents and can redeem a fishing license for category 1. Fishermen in category 1 may use all legal gear if there are no special restrictions. Fishing with nets is only permitted in certain lakes, see list under the heading "All other waters". Net floats must be marked with name and telephone number.   Category 2 (other) Category 2 includes other fishermen registered outside Mora-Våmhus FVO and tourists. Fishermen in category 2 may only use one hand gear and 10 tackle/ice bait rods when fishing where this is permitted. Hand gear refers to one hand-held rod per person and a dragline with a line. Otter and trolling are therefore not counted as hand gear. However, there are exceptions regarding rules for trolling/ottering in Siljan / Orsasjön, see separate appendix.   GUEST CARD Only fishing right holders may personally bring a guest if a fee for a guest card has been paid. Guests may fish with the same type of gear as the fishing right holder. Guests may only fish together with the fishing rights owner, not on their own. Guest cards are not valid as family cards.   FAMILY CARDS For category 1, fishing cards are valid as family cards for the respective spouse and cohabitant. Family members may use the same type of gear as the card holder. Family members fishing on their own must be able to prove their identity and possession of a fishing card. For waters with catch restrictions, the number of fish allowed applies as for a fishing card.   GROUP CARDS Group cards valid for one day can be purchased for groups, associations, companies and organizations at individual events. Group cards can only be purchased at some of our agents and are only valid for fishing in other waters where no fish are released. The group card is also not valid for fishing in waters with catch restrictions and with natural stocks of trout / char and grayling.   CRAB FISHING A fishing license is required and is only allowed for fishermen in category 1 during the period May 16th to October 15th.
