Ås-Tolken is located with the western part in Borås and the eastern part in Ulricehamn municipality.
The lake is a source lake to Viskan and has a clear and clean water. The interpreter is an excellent fishing lake with large perch, pike, pikeperch, eel, salmon trout and not least whitefish and vendace. Sometimes you can also get tench.
There are several islands in the lake. On one of them, Sundholmen, are the remains of Sundholmen's castle from the early 16th century. There is a boat ramp at the southern end of the lake at Hallabron and one at the northern end of the lake, at the beginning of the descent to Sjögården. The latter is located near the old highway 40, south of the former Nice Inn.

The County Administrative Board declared as a BIRD PROTECTION AREA. 2021-03-26, the County Administrative Board has decided on strengthened protection measures (marked in bold below).
The area is important for a protected and disturbance-sensitive bird species.
