Nedre Rudasjön or Nedre Rudan, is a lake in Haninge municipality in Stockholm County that is part of the main drainage area of the Tyresån River.
The lake is beautifully located at Rudan's recreational area, in Handen just south of Stockholm. The area is easily accessible by both car and municipal transport. The lake is 14 hectares in size and has a maximum depth of over ten meters. There are good casting opportunities around the entire lake, both from land and from one of the seven piers.
For fly fishermen who want to, it is allowed to fish from a float ring, with leg power, to increase the chances of catching fish even further. There is a hiking trail around the entire lake that makes it easy to move from one side to the other.
The releases consist mostly of rainbow trout in the size of 0.5 - 2.0 kg and during the late autumn we release rainbow trout over 4.kg and char for winter fishing. Thanks to the depth of the lake and several springs, it is possible to experience good fishing in the middle of summer. During the warm season, the fish are most active in the morning and evening.
Also note that the lake is a popular swimming lake, which means that it can be crowded on warm sunny days. The lake is also nutritious and has an abundant insect life. At the end of May, when the large Lakeshore Dragonflies hatch, you can experience some really delicious dry fly fishing.
