Welcome to our fishing waters – a beautiful part of the Stångån and Kinda canal where you can enjoy the peace, nature and varied fishing. The fishing area extends from Slattefors lock and all the way to the Stångå estuary in Roxen, with several piers that make it easy to find your favorite spot. Fishing is prohibited in the flowing parts around the hydroelectric power plants and at the locks, as it can be dangerous to be near strong currents, boat traffic and sudden height differences in the water.
Stångån is also an area with high natural values, and many animal and plant species depend on us taking care of the water and its surroundings. Here there is a chance to catch perch, pike, zander and various whitefish. At the same time, the water is home to species worthy of protection, and therefore asp, bream and eel are completely protected. Should you catch any of these fish, just release it back immediately - a simple effort that makes a big difference to the stocks.
As a fisherman, you are an important part of nature conservation. One of the biggest challenges for our waters is the spread of invasive species, which easily travel on boats, waders or gear that has not been cleaned between different waters. Make it a habit to rinse and dry your equipment before fishing in a new location – it's easy, and it helps keep our lakes and waterways healthy and vibrant.
If you ever see a suspicious species or something that seems unusual in the water, you can also contribute by reporting it via Artportalen or invasivaarter.nu. It is appreciated and makes a real difference.
A warm welcome out there – and thank you for fishing with consideration for both nature and future fishermen!
Work to maintain fishing in the area and make sure it works. The municipality leases the water to be able to provide free fishing in the city for residents.
