Västra Valbo FVOF

The area stretches from downstream Forsbacka mill to above Åbyfors power plant, i.e. the upper part of Gavleån.

Fishing focuses mainly on pike, perch and zander. Pike and perch are abundant, pikeperch are more sparse. Many different species of whitefish swim in huge numbers in the river, so there is plenty of food for the predators!

There is also a small and fragile stock of trout in the northern branch of the river from the upper and middle dam down to Gadö. Even occasional graylings can be found there. Measures are carried out annually with biotope conservation to strengthen the stock. This stretch is now open for barbless spinning and fly fishing, see fishing rules and map for markings.
