Västra Valbo FVOF

Welcome to Västra Valbo FVOF and the upper part of Gavleån!

The area stretches from downstream of Forsbacka mill to upstream of Åbyfors power plant. Fishing is mainly focused on pike, perch and zander. Pike and perch are abundant, zander is more scarce. Many different species of carp swim in enormous numbers in the river, so there is plenty of food for the predators!

There is a small and fragile population of trout in the northern branch of the river from the upper and middle dams down to Gadö. Occasional grayling can also be found there. Measures are carried out annually with biotope care and releases to strengthen the population. This stretch is now open for barbless spinning and fly fishing with mandatory re-release of trout and grayling, see fishing rules and map for markings of the area.
