ESFK's fishing route applies to both sides of Emån.
It begins above Hälleforshult (upstream of Karlshammar) and ends downstream of the road bridge after the large enclosure at the Emsfors community.
The route is not marked or signposted, so please obtain Field Map 5G Oskarshamn NO or see the map here.
It can also be ordered through Lantmäteriet.
Each individual card buyer must find out about ESFK's boundaries with other water owners as well as current prohibition zones at the power plants. ESFK disclaims any liability in this regard.
Methods
Only hand gear fishing is permitted.
A maximum of one three-hook and barbless fishing is required for all fishing.
We strictly apply catch & release and the fish are handled with care.
The fish must be kept in the water during unhooking. If you are unable to stand in the water, a knotless net should be used to keep the fish in the water when unhooking.
All wild sea trout/salmon must always be released into Emån, exceptions apply to fin-clipped/farmed fish. These fish may NOT be released, but must be picked up.
The use of a gaff hook is prohibited.
When fishing for sea trout or salmon, it is prohibited to use natural bait such as shrimp or worms.
When fishing for pike, bait fish may be used.
When fishing for other species, such as carp, bait made of bread or grain may be used.
Bottom fishing and float fishing for whitefish is permitted but must not hinder other fishermen. Anglers are expected to give priority to fly fishermen and spin fishermen during the period 9/3 - 22/9.
Every sea trout and salmon must be reported with information about the species, length, date and place of catch.
Catch restrictions
2 fish Salmon/Sea Trout over the minimum size (50cm) may be landed per fisherman per day. After the quota is reached, fishing must cease!
On the Emsfors stretch, only catch & release applies.
All catching of catfish and eel is prohibited. If a catfish or eel is caught by mistake, it must be released back into Emån.
Other rules
Do not enter private or industrial land when fishing.
For everyone's safety, do not start fishing in front of another fisherman in the same pool.
Instead, start upstream and practice mobile fishing.
A gentlemen's agreement prevails, so it is important to ask first if in doubt.
The salmon parasite Gyrodactylus Salaris occurs in Emån, whose sea trout and salmon are resistant. Those who will later fish in rivers that are free of the parasite are therefore asked to carefully disinfect their gear after fishing.
