The following rules are set up to create a pleasant experience for you as a fisherman and to protect Ätranlaxen and our other fish stocks. Remember to always treat other fishermen and the fish with respect. The rules include both things that are governed by law and specially set rules for our water. The fishing area stretches from Hertingforsen to Söderbron, but rules and prices differ for the different stretches and pools.
Changes or additions to the rules can be made during the current season and announced via grants at the salmon cottage. You are responsible for ensuring that you are aware of the rules that apply.
The fishing area extends from the upper limit in Hertingforsen to the lower limit in Hålan and is divided into 3 sections:
Hertingforsen - New fly fishing stretch in the old recreated riverbed past the power station
Laxbron - Tullbron. Classic fly and spin fishing water divided into 8 pools
Hålan - popular for fishing for trout, but also angling with the children for flounder or chub.
The fishing season for salmon and sea trout runs from 1 April to 30 September and fishing is allowed from 05:00 to 02:00. The fishing cottage normally open 05.00-23.00. Fishing hosts are available at 07:30 - 09:30 and 17:00 - 19:00.
To fish in Falkenberg's salmon fishing waters, you need a fishing license. The number of cards for sale for fishing in Hertingforsen is limited and the number can also generally change during the season. Season tickets can only be purchased at Falkenberg's tourist information.
Free fishing applies to children up to 14 years. Young people aged 15-18 fish at a discounted price.
Only fishing with spinner fly rod and traditional shrimp fishing is allowed. Only one rod per person. Angling with worms or live bait fish is not allowed and it is also not allowed to use artificial baits with fragrances. Rules for which fishing methods are permitted for each section can be found under the heading Routes and pool division . Snatch fishing is prohibited under Swedish law. Intentionally or unintentionally incorrectly hooked fish hooked in places other than the mouth and throat must be hooked with the utmost care and immediately re-released.
By fly fishing is meant fishing with a fly rod, fly line, tafs and fly.
By spin fishing is meant fishing with a spin or reel rod and a multiplier or reel. As bait, spoon pulls, spinners, wobblers, spinner flies, jigs and traditional shrimp angling are allowed. All other baits are prohibited.

Rules for catching and reporting are mainly to protect the wild stock of Ätranlax and trout.
Spawned salmon (besor) must be released throughout the season. Permitted daily catch (caught catch) is two salmon or trout. An exception is Hertingforsen, where all catches must be re-released throughout the season. You may release re-caught fish and continue your fishing until you have reached the daily quota. Keep in mind, however, that this should be done with the utmost respect and caution towards the fish. During the period 1 April-30 June, you may catch (caught catch) a total of a maximum of three salmon. Once you have caught three salmon, you must stop fishing the rest of the time until 30 June. In September, all fish caught over 75 cm must be released. We recommend that all playful fish (especially playful females) be released during the month of September. Improperly hooked fish, hooked in places other than in the mouth and throat, must be hooked immediately and returned with the utmost care.
Counted from the tip of the nose to the outer tip of the tail fin.
Salmon ............. 45 cm
Sea trout ... 45 cm
Fish that do not meet the standard must be released immediately.
You as a fisherman are obliged to report your catch, which also applies to discards that are released, hatched fish and other fish species. Catch reporting is an important tool for fisheries management. Reporting is done through a link that comes with your digital fishing license, via fishing license number on iFiske.se or by filling in the intended form inside the salmon cottage. Please also note your catch of salmon and trout on the exterior paintings by the salmon house. Released fish are longitudinally estimated and recovered fish are measured and weighed at the salmon house.
Note! special rules may apply for participation in competition events such as this year's salmon fishermen or similar. Be careful and contact a fishing host if you have caught a large catch. Check out competition rules if you want to participate and compete.
Due to the presence of "non-Etran salmon", we want to take samples from the salmon that are suspected to be foreign. Some salmon are tagged; nose marked and / or fat fin cut. Fiskevärd is responsible for species identification and sampling. Ätranlax can also be subject to sampling. We hope for an understanding of this inconvenience.
If you intend to release the fish, use barbed hooks or barbed hooks. The fish feel best to stay in the water and not be lifted into the air. Do not forget to wet your hands when handling the fish, as its mucous membranes are sensitive to touch. Use a long-handled pliers to get the hook out. Remember to try to drill the salmon as short as possible in the stream, as the fight also stresses the fish. When you release the fish, hold it in the water against the current so that the gills are oxygenated and release gently when it recovers.
Supervision - general rules
Fishing license together with identification must be presented at the check of the fishing host or supervisor. The fisherman is obliged to have knowledge of current fishing rules and follow them. The fishing is conducted according to the "rotation principle", ie the fisherman moves continuously downstream with frequent changes of fishing place. A throw, a step is a good basic rule. If another fisherman is already fishing in the pool, you start your fishing upstream. Anyone who catches a fish must leave their fishing place and start again in turn. It is not allowed to mark a fishing place with e.g. backpacks or fishing rods. Do not "lock" fishermen on the other side with too long casts and keep a suitable distance. As anglers, we assume that you show consideration for the environment you live in with its nature and wildlife. Think about what a discarded line or hook in nature can cause damage. Rubbish and waste are taken home or thrown in containers set up along the river or by the salmon hut.
Pay attention and respect cyclists and pedestrians on walks around the river.
Fishermen who violate current regulations and fishing rules or who interfere with other fishermen or non-fishermen are suspended from continuing fishing in Falkenberg Municipality's salmon fishing waters in Ätran.
Fishing by boat between Laxbron and Laet is booked at the same place as you buy the fishing license no later than one day in advance and the boat key is picked up and returned to the fishing cottage. There may only be two fishermen in each boat. A minor may not rent a boat without being in the company of an adult.
It is possible to fish with your own boat in Hålan. For a fee, you can launch the boat at Falkenbergs Båtsällskap or Lövstaviken's marina.
