RULES FOR BJURSÅS-LEKSANDS FVOF 2026

Scope of fishing area

Within the green area of the map.

Separate fishing license is required in the following waters

21. Attjärn, Såtjärn / 22. Lungsjöån.

Permitted fishing methods for the public (fishing license required)

Permitted fishing methods are: hand-held fishing equipment, tip up fishing devices (“angeldon”), ice fishing rods and fishing with ground basket (“mjärde”). Maximum allowed tip up devices (“angeldon”) and ice-fishings rods are ten (10) per fishing license. 

A maximum of four (4) rods are allowed while fishing from a moving boat.

Fishing with nets, fyke nets and fishing for crayfish is strictly forbidden for the public.

Ground baskets (“mjärdar”) shall be marked with name and phone number. 

Permitted fishing methods for fishing rights owners

Fishing rights owners must buy a fishing right certificate. Fishing right certificates can be bought at local agents or at www.iFiske.com.

Fishing right owners has the right to exercise fishing rights according to the following rules:

  • Fishing for crayfish within area with individual fishing right, or within area that shares fishing rights among several fishing rights owners,
  • Fishing with nets, fyke nets and “uttring”. Fishing with these gears is allowed on water areas with individual fishing rights as well as water areas with shared fishing rights
  • A maximum of four (4) rods are allowed while fishing from a moving boat.

In other waters, fishing is permitted by the same rules as for the public, se the rules above.

Fishing right certificates also grants fishing rights for and other deployed fishing equipment shall be marked with name, property designation, and phone number. Net shall be marked at both ends. It is sufficient that ground baskets are marked with name and phone number. Further information about the rules, and permitted times for fishing with nets, can be found on the association's website.

Fishing for crayfish 

Fishing for crayfish is only permitted for fishing rights owners. Either within area with individual fishing right, or within area with fishing right shared by several fishing rights owners. Times and rules for when fishing is allowed are decided annually at the general meeting in March. Information about times and rules can be found on the association’s website.

Total fishing ban all year round (marked with green crosses at the map) 

23. Lurån / 24. Kvarnån/ 25. Saluån (between Siljan and hw 70)/ 26. Axån / 27. Leksbodaån (the southern part).

Hovtjärn

The only permitted fishing method is fly fishing with fly fishing rods from land when open water is accessible. During January – March general ice fishing is allowed with one rod per person. Maximum one (1) rainbow trout per day/fishing license

Rogsjön

Maximum one (1) trout per day/fishing all year round. Minimum length of trout is 40 cm.

Total fishing ban at Luråns outlet from August 15 to December 31, the area is marked with red buoys. From eastern Lurholmen to buoy 400 m outside Luråns outlet and to buoy about 500 meters east (with the exception for crayfish fishing)

Rällsjön

Maximum one (1) trout per card and day all year. Minimum length of trout 40 cm.

Fjällgrycken  

Maximum one (1) trout per card and day all year. Minimum length of trout 40 cm.

Leksbodaån

Fishing prohibited at Tällbergsdammen, from Leksboda and down to the border to Leksand-Insjön FVOF. Crayfish fishing allowed according to rules for other waters.

Öratjärnarna

Only fly fishing is allowed. Catch and release on trout. Boat and float tube are allowed. No winter fishing allowed.

The new rules has been implemented to preserve the wild trout population that exists and to protect it against diseases. The water is unique as there is no pike. Furthermore, the association has been prohibited by the county board to plant out additional trout due to the same reasons.

Ungsjöarna (Bjursås-Leksands FVOF/Rättvik-Boda FVOF fishing license applies):

All trout between 60 - 95 cm must be released alive (catch and release fishing only). Maximum one (1) trout per day.

Only one hand fishing tool is allowed per fisherman. Trolling fishing is forbidden. 

Maximum eight (8) ice fishing rods with conventional triple hook is allowed per card/ fisherman. It is not possible to buy several cards.

Fishing with tip up devices (“angeldon”) may only be conducted with larger conventional single hooks (“angelkrok”) and with a maximum of ten (10) tip up devices for tourist fishing licenses, and fifteen (15) tip up devices for fishing rights owners. 

The use of fishing with grapple (“gäddssax”) is prohibited.

Maximum dimension of perch is 40 cm and pike is 90 cm. Fish exceeding these dimensions must be released (catch and release fishing only) according to the rules of Rättvik-Boda FVOF.

Other waters: restrictions on the number of game fish 

Maximum one (1) game fish, e.g. trout, char and rainbow trout (no restriction on the invasive species brook trout) per fishing license and day. Minimum dimensions for these species in other waters are 30 cm.

Fishing in open running waters is forbidden 1th September – 31th December.

Recommendation regarding maximum dimensions 

The board recommends that all perch over 40 cm, as well as pike over 90 cm, are to be released alive and as gentle as possible (catch and release fishing). However, this is a recommendation and not a mandatory rule. 

Free fishing for children and youth 

Fishing is free of charge for children and youth until the year the child turns 16. However, the fishing rules for general fishing must be complied with when fishing. Free fishing for children is only allowed in waters which is in the scope of the general fishing license for the area, and not waters that require a special fishing card, such as Attjärn and Såtjärn.

Other rules of procedure 

Fishing gear placed in water shall be marked according to the rules above. If there is no marking according to the rules, the police or fisheries inspectors may have the right to seize the fishing gear. 

A valid fishing licence shall be carried at the time of the fishery and presented to the police officer or fisheries supervisor on request.

Control fee 

A control fee of 2,500 SEK per occasion will be charged to anyone who violates the associations rules. Fishing without a valid fishing license is illegal and will be reported to the police.
