Below is some information, advice and rules, which we want you to take note of before your fishing starts. The area is called Slagnäs-Bastusel's fisheries management area /
Slagnäs Fishing Water (Slagnäs Community Association) and extends from Naustajaure (approx. 6 km upstream
Slagnäsforsen, marked "fishing limit" on
the map) down to the dam in Bastusel.

Fishing rules for hand gear:
General provisions.
The fishing license is personal and cannot be transferred to another person. However, children under the age of 16 fish for free. The card must be able to be shown on demand. Own boat may be used.
New rules:
One fin-clipped trout above the current minimum size may be killed per fisherman per day. It is thus the question of cultivated and exposed Bergnäsöring. All wild trout regardless of size and condition must be released. This also applies to damaged fish. Description of how a correct release is made can be found in the fishing license appendix.
Protect the wild fish:
In Slagnäs, every year we release farmed Arctic char to create better fishing, and these can be recognized by the fact that the adipose fin between the tail and dorsal fin has been cut away. The few remaining wild trout in the river always have their fat fins, and we ask you spearfishermen to release these back and thereby help preserve the trout population in Slagnäs for the future.

Special rules apply for the section of the railway bridge and approx. 600 meters downstream: Fishing is prohibited in the river section between January 1 - until the second Friday in June - and from August 16 - December 31. Fishing is always prohibited above the railway bridge up to the Power Plant and 100 m upstream of the Power Plant.
Fishing therefore starts in the river on the second Saturday in June (at: 00:01) - until August 15
Other:
We would like you to behave towards others in the same way that you yourself want to be treated. Don't litter here in nature and burn wisely. A couple of good tips for you who want to be near and on the water: Use a life jacket and don't drink alcohol.

Methods:
One rod with a maximum of three hooks on the line applies to each person. Barbed hook is only used when you are absolutely sure that the hooked fish is fin-clipped
Within the area from the railway bridge down to Brännuddstrykarn (see the map), the following applies: It is forbidden to fish with live and dead bait (marked "worm limit" on the map).
Catch Limits:
Within the area from the railway bridge down to Brännuddstrykarn (see map) the following applies: minimum size for grayling is 25 cm and for trout 35 cm.
