Chub ("Färna") Overview

Chub - Squalius cephalus

Farnan belongs to the family of carp fish. It is widespread in central and southern Sweden, but is rare in large quantities. Färnen is about as big as present and can reach weights of around 3 kg.


It is relatively common in the river Tidan and darkness. It prefers flowing waters but also in lakes.

Size and growth

Farnan rarely exceeds 55 cm. Normal weight is 0.5 kg but can reach up to 2.8 kg.
