RULES FOR FISHING IN THE NISSAN FISHERIES MANAGEMENT AREA 2026 Fishing area: Fishing is permitted in Nissan from Oskarström (the regulating dam at Ry bruk) to the outlet into the sea. Please note that the Nissan estuary is covered by a conservation area where special rules apply, see map . For more information about the rules that apply within the conservation area, please refer to: Fishing regulations in the sea in Halland County . Fishing may only be conducted within designated fishing pools and only by holders of a valid fishing license. Fish pools: The fishing area is divided into pools, nine in total, nos. 0-4 and 6-9. The pool boundaries are marked with signs. Allowed fishing methods within the zone are indicated in text on the sign. Fly fishing only (pools 3 and 8), fly/spinning/angling (pools 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9). The location of the pools is shown on the map. Pool 1: Fishing is permitted: On the east side (Frennarps side) downstream of the yellow marking approximately 150 meters below the Slottsmöllan power station. On the west side downstream of the yellow marking opposite the above. Throwing upstream is prohibited. Fly fishing is permitted from a line approximately 10 metres upstream of the suspension cable, also marked in red, approximately 100 metres from the bridge. Please note that casting towards the area previously called "the pantry" is not permitted. The area is located downstream of the salmon ladder and the outlet from the power plant and ends at the yellow marking. See map. Fishing license: A valid fishing license is required to fish within the area. A fishing license whose category or date has been changed in any way or is not filled in is not valid. A fishing license must always be presented together with identification upon request by a fishing inspector. Sales of annual passes are ongoing until 2026-06-30, after which only sales of other card types will be available. Limitations for adult annual passes in Nissan to 250 and youth annual passes to 50. Children under 12 years of age accompanied by a guardian may fish for free, if the guardian has a valid fishing license. Group discount: Groups from schools or recreation centers in Halmstad municipality are entitled to fish on one adult license per 10 students. The same category of groups from other municipalities are entitled to fish on one adult license per 5 students. Fishing time: Fishing is permitted between 1 March and 30 September between 05:00 and 22:00 in all pools. During the period 1 March – 31 August, fishing in pool 1 and pool 8 is permitted between 05:00 and 24:00. During the period 1-14 October, fishing in pool 9 is permitted between 07:00 and 19:00 with a special day permit. During the period from October 1 to February 28, fishing in pools 0 to 7 may be conducted during daylight hours. Salmon and trout must be released during this time. Fishing method: Fishing is permitted with fly, spinning and fishing rods. Only one rod per person. Fishing from a boat is permitted upon obtaining a special fishing license. Jerk fishing is absolutely prohibited according to Swedish law. All incorrectly hooked fish must be released without fail. Fishing with a worm is prohibited March-April. Only single hooks may be used during the period from March 1 to April 30, pools 0 and 1. From May 1, treble hooks may be used. To reduce damage to fish that are to be released, it is recommended that only barbless single hooks are used. Fishing with a worm is prohibited from October 1 to April 30. Fishing from a boat: To fish from a boat, a special boat fishing permit is required. This permits fishing from a boat in pool 2 and the pools upstream of pool 2. When fishing from a boat, it is also permitted to fish between the pools. However, landing may only take place within the pools. The fly fishing pools must be respected, fly fishermen have priority. The boat fishing permit is valid for 1 day and gives everyone on board the right to fish. The fisheries management area does not designate any places for landing. Fishermen with boats are encouraged to contact and obtain approval from landowners and others who may have a suitable landing site. At the request of the supervisor, fishermen must bring their boat to the supervisor without delay. The ability to redeem boat fishing licenses may be limited if adverse conditions exist. Catch quantity: Fishing licenses entitle you to catch a maximum of 2 salmon and 2 trout per season. Re-release of large female salmon is recommended! Caught and released fish must be reported to Fiska.se. NOTE: Caught besa (spawned salmon) must be released. Minimum dimensions: The following minimum dimensions apply, calculated from the tip of the snout to the tip of the tail fin: salmon: 45 cm trout: 45 cm. Fishing that does not meet the dimensions must be released without fail. Maximum dimensions for perch: 35 cm and Pike: 75 cm. Catch reports: Caught fish must be reported to www.ifiske.se. Fishing supervision: The fisherman must follow the rules of the fishing management area and any additional instructions given by the fishing supervisor. Fishermen who violate the rules or fail to follow the supervisor's instructions may be suspended and forced to return their fishing license without compensation. Ethical rules: Do not leave hooks, lines or anything else that could harm birds and animals. Fish that are to be kept must be killed immediately. Rule change: Changes or additions to the rules can be made without liability from the fisheries management area during the current season. This is posted on iFiske and the website. As an angler, you are obliged to stay informed about and follow the current fishing rules. Violation of the rules may result in the revocation of the fishing right.
