Fishing rules – Ottnarens Fishing Conservation Association

Generally

The fishing license is only valid for recreational fishing for personal use .
All catch is intended for personal consumption .
Sale or other commercial use of caught fish is prohibited .

Fishermen are obliged to follow applicable rules and show consideration for nature, wildlife and other fishermen.

Prohibited methods

The following are not allowed:

• Sonar with real-time display of fish and bait , for example:
  • LiveScope
  • Active Target
  • Mega Live
• Side screens
• Crayfish fishing (prohibited all year round)

Time constraints

• May 1 – June 15
  • All fishing from floating vessels (boats, rafts, etc.) is prohibited.
  • Fishing from shore and pier is permitted.
• From ice breaking up until June 15th
  • Trolling and vertical fishing are prohibited.

Fish from ice

• Fishing from ice requires a Boat Fishing License
• 24-hour pass Hand gear does not apply to ice fishing

Catch limit – Pikeperch

• Max 2 pike perch per person per day
• Minimum dimensions: 45 cm
• Maximum dimensions: 70 cm
• Pike perch that do not meet the size requirements must be immediately released.
• All re-releases should be handled with care.

Nets and longlines

• Prohibited during the period:
  • May 1 – August 31
  • During the ice age
• From September 1st , only nets with a mesh size of at least 50 mm may be used.
• Marking:
  • All nets and gear must be marked with a clearly visible orange fishing ball.
  • Minimum diameter: 23 cm
  • Labeling shall include:
    • Fishing license number
    • Name
    • Phone number

Allowed tools

• Hand tools
• Angeldon: max 15 pcs
• Alternatively, one (1) of the following:
  • Mjärde / roach hut
  • Bait net
  • Bottom-set longline with max. 100 hooks

Rules for Hedgehog

• Children up to 11 years old fish for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
• Youth card 12–17 years :
  • Max 3 fish per person per day
• The restriction applies to all species , unless otherwise stated.

Fishing license types

24-hour card – Hand tools

• 1 (one) hand tool
• Only applies to fishing from:
  • Country
  • Bridge
• Does not apply to ice fishing.

Boat fishing license

• Required for:
  • Fishing from a boat
  • Ice fishing
• Not valid during the period 1/5 – 15/6

Allowed tools (max. one option):

• Angeldon: max 15 pcs
• 1 roach / roach hut
• 1 bait net
• Bottom-set longline, max 100 hooks
• Net, max 30 meters

Children and young people

• Young people up to 16 years old fish for free with hand gear
• Fishing from shore or pier only
• Trolling and vertical fishing are not permitted.

Fishing competitions

Fishing competitions shall:

• Register in good time
• Be approved by the association before implementation
