- It is every fisherman's responsibility to inform themselves about current regulations and limits.
- Fishing permits are personal and may not be transferred.
- All sport fishing licenses are valid for fishing with a handheld rod, not a pole or otter.
- Children under 16 years of age fish in the company of the cardholder on their fishing license.
- A fishing permit must be carried and presented to a fishing inspector upon request.
- Annual sport fishing passes are valid for the calendar year. Stream fishing is NOT included in the sport fishing pass and requires a separate stream fishing pass.
- Net fishing ban applies in Jokksjaurebleriken, Umeälven/Tärnaån and the Umeälven downstream of Portbron to the outlets in Västansjön and Lill-Laisan.
- Nets and other deployed fishing gear must be well marked with the owner's name and telephone number.
- Nets may not be placed closer than 300 m from the inlets and outlets of the lakes.
- Fishing gear that lacks markings can be seized and returned to the board.
- Stream fishing in the Tärnaån and Umeälven rivers requires a special stream fishing license:
- A mask ban applies here.
- Window removal is applied, fish between 35 cm and 45 cm may be kept, the rest must be released.
- Bag limit: 3 fish per person per day.
- See map and signs in the terrain for stream fishing limits.
- Fishing ban 15/9-15/10.
- Net fishing ban all year round.
- Trolling rules:
- A maximum of 2 fish with a minimum size of 40 cm (trout and char) per fisherman and day may be kept.
- There is no restriction for Canadian trout.
- Other: Fishing rights holders with a fishing rights certificate, permanent residents with a local residence card and holiday home owners with a holiday home card do not need to purchase a trolling card, it is included in their regular permit.
- Violation of these regulations may result in prosecution and a control fee of 1000,- will be charged.
