Gargnäs-Råstrand's FVO is located in the eastern part of Sorsele municipality about 200 km from the sea. With about 200 km towards the river's source flow, you then end up with us in a scenic area with scenic stretches and large lake areas. We have everything from the mighty rapids, the calm tributaries, large lakes to the smallest pond and everyone has the opportunity to find their dream place in the area.
We have a large area with about 25 km of river stretch, of which nine rapids and seven rapids. Here are really good chances for good fishing for salmon, trout and grayling.
One of the Vindelälven's largest tributaries.
With its source flow in Gargaure in the Norrbotten border, it winds its way through woodland and swamps down to the Vindelälven river at Laxselet. Please note that fishing in Gargån has its own fishing license.
Over the years, Gargån has had a good reputation with fishing for large and coarse trout and lots of grayling.
Over the years, however, the river has been severely affected by floating and forestry. Major efforts have been made in flotation restorations and have today received a real facelift, which has been very positive for trout in the water. Our fly fishing stretch from Dammen in Jorbokksforsen down to Fallet in Trollforsen has in recent years produced lots of fine trout. Grayling fishing has also yielded good catches during the same period, but not the really big individuals. Grayling around 7-8 hg is a common fish, but over 1 kg is unusual.
Unfortunately, the unrestrained forestry along the watercourse has made the river terribly sensitive to precipitation. During dry periods, the river drops to almost catastrophically low levels and high water temperatures. Rainy periods, all the water comes at once and the river rises almost to spring flows.
The best fishing period in the river is during early spring until mid-July at best. However, this depends entirely on how the weather plays out.
A tributary to Gargån that flows from Staggträsket and ends in Gargån west in the village Gargnäs.
A small watercourse that is very suitable for fly fishing.
The brook is dominated by grayling fishing, but after restorations made in 2012, we hope to be able to re-establish the large trout stock that once existed in the system.
The brook has small short streams and large seals. On the harness, fishing is dominated by pike and perch, which can be really good. The upper part of the brook is probably the most fished over the years due to its availability.
The lower section is less used, but with a new "forest road" the accessibility is better and maybe this is where you will find your new paradise.
One of our largest lakes in the area. Here, in recent years, we have invested in releasing fish again.
The lake contains trout, char, perch, pike, whitefish, vendace, roach and lake.
In the lake there is the famous "Vulgatan" but so far has not given the fishing, which you see elsewhere. Maybe it's during summer fishing that you catch your dream fish right here?
Boats are available for rent for fishing in the lake. There is also an electric motor with a battery for rent at Ica Gargnäs.
You will find here via a gravel road between Gargnäs and Staggträsk.
Light bottom iron
Like the name, the pond has extremely clear water and resembles a mountain lake. The water contains trout, char and occasional perch.
At the pond there is a restored "felling hut" which FVO owns. Here you can seek protection in the event of a storm or perhaps for an overnight stay. The cottage has a large stove and simple bunk beds that can serve as beds.
Fly fishing from the beach goes really well and you walk around the pond in a little while.
You will find here via a minor road from the 363 at Orrkulla.
The fishing period in the pond is between 2 on Saturday in March until the release takes place in late autumn.
