Fishing season
Fishing is permitted throughout the year, except for salmon and sea trout fishing which may only take place during the period 1/4-30/9.
Fishing hours: 05:00-23:00. Fishing on the stretch from the bridge in Vessigebro and 400 meters downstream is only permitted from 1 April to 30/9.

Fishing area
The fishing area extends from the bridge in Vessigebro - the old road E6 bridge and is divided into two sections:

• Salmon fishing in Vessigebro: the bridge in Vessigebro - boundary marking 400 meters downstream. Sold separately as a card that is valid for the entire fishing area.
• Border marking 400 meters downstream from the bridge in Vessigebro - the old road E6 bridge. Sold separately as a card valid for the route.

Permitted fishing methods
Spinning, angling and fly fishing. The principle "one rod, one man" applies.

Fishing license
To fish in the fishing waters of the Ätrans Lower Fishing Area, you need a fishing license. Changes to local or national fishing regulations during the current season never entitle the card buyer to a refund. This also applies if the opportunity to fish is completely lost.

Supervision - general rules
Fishermen are required to present a valid fishing license upon request by a supervisor or fishing right holder.
A private road may not be used for fishing without the landowner's permission. The fisherman is obliged to familiarize himself with the fishing regulations and carefully observe the provisions.
As an angler, we expect you to show consideration for nature and wildlife in the fishing area. Discarded lines, broken hooks and other waste are taken home after fishing.

Catch
Rules for catching and reporting are essential to protect the wild stock of Ätran salmon and trout. Hatched salmon (smolts) must be released throughout the season.

Period quota - April 1-June 30

During the period 1 April-30 June you may catch (retained catch) a total of no more than one (1) salmon. Once you have caught one (1) salmon (retained catch), you must stop all fishing for the rest of the time up to and including 30 June. You may release caught fish and continue your fishing until you have reached the quota. However, keep in mind that this must be done with the utmost respect and care for the fish. Quotas apply to the entire Ätran water system.

Daily quota – 1 July-30 September

The permitted daily catch (retained catch) during the period 1 July-30 September is two (2) salmon or trout. You may release caught fish and continue your fishing until you have reached the seasonal or daily quota. However, please remember that this should be done with the utmost respect and care for the fish. Quotas apply to the entire Ätran water system.

Seasonal quota – April 1-September 30

The permitted seasonal quota is five (5) salmon (retained catch). You may release caught fish and continue fishing until you have reached the seasonal or daily quota. However, please remember that this should be done with the utmost respect and care for the fish. Quotas apply to the entire Ätran water system.

In August and September, all caught fish over 75 cm should be released. We also recommend that smaller females be released during these two months and urge anglers to be aware of high water temperatures (over 20 degrees), when they should consider not fishing at all.

Minimum dimensions
Counted from the tip of the nose to the outer tip of the caudal fin.
Salmon............. 45 cm
Sea trout... 45 cm
Fish that do not meet the standard must be released immediately.

Please note that catching eels is not permitted. All catches must be reported. This also applies to released fish.
