Ätran is a classic salmon water. It is one of the most beautiful wild salmon rivers in Sweden and in the fishing area there are many fine fishing opportunities. The water includes salmon, sea trout, pike, perch, eel, lake, whine and roach. Bit by bit you will find nice routes for fly fishing for salmon and trout, but the water is also known for keeping large specimens of pike.
Ätran and the tributary Högvadsån have a genuine salmon strain that is extra protective value. It is basically completely unaffected by cultivation.
Thanks to extensive fishing and water conservation, it has succeeded in retaining the self-reproducing salmon.
Ätran is with its source flows about 243 kilometers long. It is the second most powerful of the four Halland sows.
The river flows from a bog in Gullered at a height of 332 meters above sea level, through southeastern Västergötland, and falls into the Kattegat at Falkenberg.
Ätrans Nedre Fiskevårdsområde extends from the bridge in Vessigebro, to the bridge over the old E6 in Falkenberg, about 150 meters upstream of the Herting power station.
The association manages fishing from the bridge in Vessigebro to the mouth of the sea and comprises about 250 properties with fishing rights. We sell fishing licenses for the route between the bridge in Vessige and the old E6 bridge. The association was formed in 1991 in accordance with the Act (1981: 533) on fisheries conservation areas with the purpose of coordinating fishing and fisheries management, to promote the common interests of fishing rights holders, taking into account the regulations that apply to fishing activities and to grant fishing to the public. Member of the association is the one who owns property with fishing rights in the area
