Skedviken is located just under forty kilometers east of Uppsala and half a mile northwest of Rimbo community. It is located in an agricultural area and has cultivated land on the shores to the west, north and east. It is only in the south that continuous forest begins at the lake shore. Although there are bus connections to these areas, it is a great advantage if you have access to your own car. The parts that are easiest to reach from the public road are the northern and western. These are the cape at Sörbodavikens beach (forest road from the west leads down here), Mörby ruin (accessed from Fasterna church), and the pier below Rånäs sjukhem
The lake is shallow and a fairly typical flat lake, although the reeds do not have such an extensive spread. The reeds are mostly limited to a border along the shore and the shape of the lake means that Skedviken has a large open water surface. In the southernmost bay, Sörbodaviken, the reeds have their greatest extent and form a wide border along the western shore. The lake is shallow and a fairly typical flat lake, although the reeds do not have such an extensive distribution.
There are planted and fully grown pike perch. In addition, there are plenty of perch, pike and whitefish.
Boat
There is no ramp to launch a boat in Skedviken. Smaller boats can probably be carried down to Rånäs. Float fishing is recommended.
Birds
Skedviken is best known for the abundant occurrence of great and great black-backed terns during late autumn. However, the lake is also worth visiting at other times of the year. In addition to resting seabirds during spring and autumn, reed warblers can be heard in the reeds and several species of nightingales along the shores during early summer nights.
Other
The forest road down to Sörbodaviken is private and you may not drive on it without the owner's permission, even if the barrier is up. The same applies to the road down to Djurgården. Mörby ruin is private property and may not be entered unless it is explicitly stated that it is permitted.
