Skedviken

  Stockholms län / Norrtälje municipality.

Skedviken is located just under four miles east of Uppsala and half a mile northwest of Rimbo society. It is located in an agricultural area and has cultivated land on the beaches to the west, north and east. It is only in the south that continuous forest begins at the lakeshore. Although there are bus connections to these areas, it is a big advantage if you have access to your own car. The parts that are easiest to reach from the public road are the north and west. These are the headland at the shore of Sörbodaviken (forest road from the west leads down here), Mörby ruin (reached from Fasterna church) and the pier below Rånäs hospital

The lake is shallow and a fairly typical flatland lake, although the reeds are not so widespread. The reeds are mostly limited to a border along the shore and the shape of the lake means that Skedviken has a large open water surface. In the southernmost bay, Sörbodaviken, the reeds have their greatest extent and here form a wide border along the western shore. The lake is shallow and a fairly typical lowland lake, although the reeds are not so widespread.

There are implanted and full-grown walleye. In addition, plenty of perch, pike and whitefish.

Boat: There is no ramp to launch a boat in Skedviken. Smaller boats can probably be carried down in Rånäs. Floating is recommended.

Birds:
Skedsviken is best known for the abundant presence of great and common kingfishers in late autumn. However, the lake is also worth visiting at other times of the year. In addition to resting seabirds in spring and autumn, reeds can be heard in the reeds and several species of night warbler along the shores during the early summer nights.

Other:
The forest road down to Sörbodaviken is private and you may not drive on it without the owner's permission, even if the barrier is raised. The same applies to the road down to Djurgården . Mörby ruin is private property and may therefore not be entered unless it is expressly stated that it is permitted.
