Rules for fishing license buyers SVEG – HERRÖ FISHERIES MANAGEMENT AREA RULES FOR FISHING LICENSE PURCHASERS 2026
All fishing without a fishing license is prohibited - however, children and young people fish for free until the year they turn 18 (The area's rules also apply to children and young people!) The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred. Annual licenses are valid for the calendar year and we otherwise offer day licenses. The fishing license entitles you to sport fishing with a hand tool or a pull from a boat in planted waters (However, fly casting with a maximum of three flies is allowed). Fishing with nets, scissors, standing hooks, longlines, seines, gillnets and otters is prohibited, as is jerk fishing in all our waters!
NOTE: From the Svegsdammen power plant and 500m downstream, fishing is only permitted for people who are registered within the municipal borders.
Within Sveg/Herrö Fvo, fishing using Live transducers/Activ Target/LiveScop/360 Live or similar live techniques is NOT permitted. Live transducers must be removed from the boat before launching! Only today's traditional echo sounders are permitted!
All fishing license purchasers, as well as children and young people, also have the right to fish with fishing rods and/or ice-meter rods in all non-planted waters, - however, a maximum of 10 fishing rods and/or ice-meter rods per person.
Minimum size: Trout, char, grayling and rainbow trout 35 cm, the minimum size does not apply when fishing for trout and brown trout. Maximum dimensions: Pike 80 cm Perch 38 cm Trout 55 cm The maximum number of pike that can be caught is limited to 5 pike per day and applies all year round, regardless of the fishing method!
In planted lakes and ponds, the number of fish that can be caught of the species trout, char and rainbow trout is maximized to 3 fish per day, valid for both day and annual passes. FVOV's planted ponds and lakes are Vargknättjärn, Hocksjön, Hundsjön, Skrattabborrtjärn, Stråsjön and Digertjärn.
All planted waters are closed to fishing from October 1st to December 14th. The same waters are open for ice fishing from December 15 until the ice breaks. Other sport fishing as above is permitted from June 1 until September 30. After the ice breaks, there is a fishing ban until June 1 in planted waters. The fisheries management area can decide on temporary fishing bans in certain waters. Fishing for trout from 1 September to 31 October, and fishing for grayling from 1 April to 15 May is prohibited in all flowing watercourses, except Ljusnan downstream of Lake Svegssjön, as well as in lakes and sels within a distance of 200 metres from the inlet and outlet. Anyone who catches a trout or grayling within the prohibited area must immediately return the fish to the water. At regulating dams and specially arranged fishing routes, all fishing is prohibited 50 metres downstream from the dam building or fishing route. It is prohibited to fish from a boat, float ring or other floating craft in all planted ponds within the fishery conservation area. Fishing for crayfish or mussels is prohibited.
By agreement, the fishing license entitles you to fishing in the entire Stråsjön, Abborrtjärn, Östingsjön, Mörttjärn, Granremssjön, Gröningen, Flärken and Svedberstjärn. The license does NOT entitle you to fishing in Amsen, Kroktjärnsbäcken, Kroktjärn, Grysssjöån, Hälltjärn, Övre Gryssjön and Mellangryssjön. The fishing license entitles you to fishing in Vemån only downstream of the highway bridge on Highway 84.
In the event of incorrect fishing/violation of the rules, a control fee of 2500 SEK will be charged and in the event of repeated violations/violations, the board may decide on stricter measures/consequences!
