Four villages are located around the lake: Bjännsjö, Degersjö, Innersjö and Yttersjö. Bjännsjön is easily accessible because a road goes around the entire lake. Parking spaces are available in several places around the lake. See fishing map.
Bjännsjön, which is about 300 ha in size, is about 3.9 km long and at most 1.4 km wide. The shores are mostly arable land, mixed forest and some marsh areas are also present, especially at Bjännsjöviken and at Järphålet.
Bjännsjön is the municipality's third largest lake. Despite its size, it is a shallow lake. The deepest part is 7 meters and this is located in Yttersjöviken.
Large pike weighing up to 10 kg are caught annually and during the 2009 fishing year the largest known pike caught with a rod weighed 11 kg.
There are plenty of perch in the lake and perch weighing a kilo are not uncommon. During test fishing in 2009 the largest perch caught was 44 cm long and the record for perch in the lake is just over 1.8 kg. The fish population in Bjännsjön consists of perch, pike, roach, bream and roach. One-summer pike perch have been introduced and on some occasions also large trout (0.8-2.5 kg).
