The Lower Norsälven FVO has been granted an exemption from the ban on fishing for salmon and trout in the Norsälven River and the exemption fishing will last between 15/9 and 31/10. The normal rules also apply to the exemption fishing (however, please note as usual special rules for Zone 1). It is also of the utmost importance that catches are reported, which is why we have made catch reporting mandatory. All forms of fishing in Zone 1 are prohibited after 31/10.
The bridge along the wall is not yet completed and may not be used/walked on.
Please note that zoning will come into effect from August 15, 2025, which means a separate fishing license for zone 1 with different rules. See more information under rules when purchasing a fishing license.
Important to respect the minimum size of 75 cm for salmon and trout
We would like to remind you that the minimum size for keeping salmon and trout is 75 cm. It is especially important to follow this right now, as large quantities of juvenile fish have recently been released to strengthen the endangered stocks.
Releasing smaller fish is crucial to giving them a chance to grow up and reproduce. Together we can contribute to long-term and sustainable fishing.
NOTE! Fishing for salmon and trout is prohibited during the conservation period from September 15 to December 31 in Norsälven.
The fisheries management area covers the Norsälven River from the factory bridge in Edsvalla (200 m downstream of the power plant dam) to the river's mouth and the northern part of Åsfjorden up to and including the southern tip of Götviksudden.
Here you can fish for pike-perch, salmon and trout, among other things.
NOTE: The speed limit in Norsälven is 5 knots.
