Fishing rules & conditions Fishing license: Must always be obtained before fishing begins and is personal. The fishing license and identification must be carried when fishing and presented at check-in. Responsibility: The fisherman is obliged to be aware of the applicable regulations. Violation of the rules may lead to suspension, inspection fee or police report.
Obligation to release fish Fish must be immediately released regardless of condition (FIFS 2004:36) if it: - Caught during the conservation period.
- Caught using an illegal method.
- Does not meet the prescribed minimum or maximum dimensions.
Methods- Allowed: Only hand gear (rod) from land or ice.
- Prohibited: Fixed gear or mass-catching gear, such as nets, traps and gillnets.
Fishing periods & catch limits
Pike- Period: Fishing all year round
- Dimensions: Minimum 40 cm, maximum 75 cm.
- Catch: A maximum of 3 pike per fisherman per day may be kept.
Perch- Period: Fishing all year round
- Dimensions: Maximum 25 cm.
- Catch: A maximum of 3 perch per fisherman per day may be kept.
Red- Period: Fishing all year round
- Catch: All rudd should be carefully released back into the water.
Other species- For other species, there are no specific fishing periods or catch restrictions.
Important steps to minimize damage to fish during release- Prepare: Use a rubberized net and sufficiently coarse equipment to shorten the time the fish is hooked.
- Unhook: Leave the fish in the net. Use pliers to unhook the fish, do not lift the fish out of the water. Let the fish swim out of the net under its own power.
