Fishing regulations

It is important to check the local regulations before your fishing trip, as any violation of these regulations may result in the association charging a control fee. This also applies to the rules for crayfish fishing, which can be found on our website.

NOTE! From 2026-01-01, according to the decision at the meeting on 2025-03-27, the following will also apply:

• So-called window outlet for pike-perch, 45-70 cm, instead of the current minimum size.
• Ban on ice skating competitions on all waters except Barken.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION
1. In addition to general regulations, the following local additions apply to the lakes of the Barkensjöarnas fishing area association, with the exception of Flaten and Snuvtjärn . Special regulations apply to these (see below). Igeltjärn and Tunkarlsbobäcken are not included, here fishing is reserved for fishing rights holders. The Kolbäcksån between the power plants in Smedjebacken and Morgårdshammar is leased by Sportfiske Smedjebacken, and all fishing there is managed by that association.

FISHING PERMIT
2. In order to use the fishing within the Barkensjöarnas FVOF, a fishing license must be purchased and brought with you when fishing. Fishing right holders within the Barkensjöarnas FVOF purchase annual licenses (fishing right certificates) at a reduced price, but only from vendors with access to the fishing right list.

3. Card types and validity periods

ANNUAL PASS valid 1/1-31/12
MONTHLY PASS valid for 30 days
DAY CARD valid for 24 hours
GUEST CARD valid 1/1-31/12 (can only be redeemed by annual card holders)
COMPETITION CARDS No special competition cards are issued. See 4.4 under Regulations.

Additional card for nets and trolling 1/1-31/12 (can only be purchased by annual card holders)

FISHING REGULATIONS

4.1 The annual pass is valid for the holder and their spouse/cohabitant and entitles them to hand-held fishing and a maximum of 20 angelfish, 20 boltu, a maximum of 2 roach, 2 roach huts and salmon traps (unlimited), longlines and 2 lures per boat. Ice fishing rods are considered angelfish.
4.2 Monthly card, same rules as 4.1
4.3 Daily passes entitle you to hand-held fishing and a maximum of 20 fishing rods or 20 bolts.
4.4 Competition cards - no special competition cards are issued anymore. Anyone fishing in the waters of Barkensjöarnas FVOF must have a valid fishing license or fishing permit, regardless of participation in a competition or not.
4.5 Fishing rights certificates (annual passes) for fishing rights holders entitle them to fish according to 4.1, 4.7, 4.13 and 4.14.
4.6 The guest card may be redeemed by the holder of an annual card in Barkensjöarnas FVOF and is valid for temporary guests from another location in the presence of the annual card holder.
4.7 Net fishing permits entitle you to set out a maximum of 3 nets of 30m = 90m per fishing occasion. Both ends must be marked with a large, clear net buoy or equivalent. More than 90m of nets may not be connected in series.
4.8 Net fishing is only permitted for fishing right holders and residents who are registered in the Smedjebacken and Fagersta municipalities, as well as owners of holiday homes within the Barkensjöarna FVOF.
4.9 Free hand-held fishing for children under 16 years of age.
4.10 Net fishing is prohibited in Saxony.
4.11 Prohibition of fishing with nets and traps in all running waters.
4.12 Netting and fishing ban year-round in Gladtjärn.
4.13 Trolling fishing: maximum 10 baits per boat. Paravan/Pulkor and similar that are anchored with a line/wire more than 10m from the boat, must be equipped with a flagpole and warning flag.
4.14 Bait fishing may be conducted with a maximum of 2 baits.

MINIMUM SIZE AND CATCH LIMIT
5. Pikeperch, salmon and trout 50cm. Fish for which a minimum size is prescribed may not be landed in pieces. Of these species, a maximum of 3 fish may be landed per day. That is, 3 in total, not 3 per species.

OUTSTANDING TOOLS
6. All outstanding gear must be marked with clear floats or ruska (on ice) and the fisherman's name and phone number.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR Barken, Saxen, Vevungen and V. & Ö. Sveten
7.1 Fishing with roach and roach traps is prohibited during the period 1/7-30/9.
7.2 Fishing grounds in which there is a ban on net fishing are located in the straits of Nor, Huggnora, Kolpebostreken and the strait to Saxen.

CRAB FISHING
8. The Fishing Meeting decides on rules and times for crayfish fishing each year. At other times, crayfish fishing is prohibited, with the exception of test fishing by personnel appointed by the board. More information about crayfish fishing here.

TOTAL FISHING BAN
9. 15/9-31/12 in watercourses connected to Barken and at
– Tunkarlsbobäcken outlet in Södra Barken 100m north and south of the outlet out to the center line of the lake.
– The outlet of Plågbäcken in Viksviken 100m north and south of the outlet out to the centerline of the bay.
– Hemviken Norra Barken, the area north from a line, the southern tip of Kärrmesholmen to Norra Getö towards the mainland and in an easterly direction towards Rånäsberget.
– Vevungen, from the northern part of Jättholmen to the dam gates in Semla.
– Hyttån 100 m outside and on the sides of the mouth.

SPECIAL RULES THE SURFACE

Only fishing licenses marked "Day License - Flaten P&T" are valid for fishing in Lake Flaten.

The flat is closed to fishing from 31/10 to 31/12 each year.

Only 1 rod per fisherman.

Max 3 fish per day pass.

Max 2 fishing licenses per person per day.

The second card may only be purchased when the first card is fully fished.

A child up to 11 years of age, who can cast on their own, is allowed to fish on the guardian's fishing license.

All echo sounders are prohibited in the lake.

Current rules for the water are also posted at the lake and under Put and Take (Flaten).

SPECIAL RULES SNUFFERING
Only fishing with a hook without barbs. Mandatory release of carp and rudd and catch reporting via iFiske or directly to the board. Otherwise, this lake is included in the regular cards.

INSPECTION FEES
2500:- for all violations of local regulations, also applies to violations of crayfish fishing rules.
