Vetlanda municipality, with its countless pikeperch lakes and the upper reaches of the species-rich Emån - which flows like a blood vessel through the municipality - has a rich range of fishing opportunities, almost regardless of what kind of fish you intend to lure in!
Whether you are looking for a lake where you can experience pleasant perch fishing with the family or a water where you can experience action-packed pike fishing, there is something for you within the municipality's 38 fishing management areas.
The area offers very good pikeperch fishing and is a perfect place to try vertical jig fishing, trolling or angling for pikeperch. As an angler, you can face many challenges, such as the elusive Färnan in Emån within the Repperdaorten and Kvillsfors fishing management areas. During the early summer hatching of Åsandslända and Sjösandslända, dry fly fishing can be really exciting, both in put-and-take water and in rivers, as it also attracts larger fish to pick food from the surface. Fine pike-perch fishing can be found in Grumlan, Saljen, Flen and Flögen, among others. The lower parts of Solgen also border Vetlanda municipality. Örken is a larger, nutrient-poor lake with exciting fishing, located in the upper parts of the Mörrumsån main catchment area.
When fishing and staying in nature, the Right of Public Access applies, which means freedom but also consideration and responsibility. Eels are found in some of the municipality's lakes. Eel fishing is permitted more than three definitive migration barriers from the sea, but the minimum size is 70 centimeters in all waters.
