The beautiful Säveån River flows through beautiful natural areas and lovely stretches of stream, and flows into the Göta River at the port of Gothenburg. The river offers fishing for both salmon and trout. The annual catch of salmon normally varies between 50 and 100 individuals, depending on water flow and weather conditions, and the average weight is over 5 kg. Salmon fishing is managed by the Sportfiskarna.

The salmon of the Säveån River have been assessed to be one of the few remaining genuine salmon stocks in the country. The Säveån River has also been classified as a nationally important river under the Natural Resources Act, which is why Natura 2000 areas and nature reserves have been established.
During the seasons that the Sportfishers have allowed fishing, many salmon over 10 kg have been caught. The largest so far was caught in 2005 and weighed 17.64 kg. During breeding fishing, a male salmon of 21 kg and several salmon around 15 kg have been caught.
Depending on the water flow, temperature, etc., the Säveå salmon normally arrive at Jonseredsvattnet at the end of May and then continuously throughout the season. The largest salmon usually arrive early in the season.
