Göta River is Sweden's largest watercourse and has almost all of Sweden's freshwater species.
The river is about 10 m deep and the banks are usually protected with rubble. The best way to fish in the river is from a boat, as access from land is not the best. Boat launch sites are available in Surte, Kungälv, Nol and at the mouth of Grönån next to the parking lot. The area includes the Göta River from Jordfallsbron to the border with Lilla Edets municipality, as well as the main channel of Grönån with the exception of Forån where fishing is permitted up to the road bridge in Skepplanda.
