The lakes in the fisheries management area are located about 15 km from Växjö, Åredasjön, Vikasjön, Stora Hacksjön and Skirsjön.
Sizes 60-130ha, typical water quality for forest lakes in the area, with humus-rich water. Depth usually under 3 m, occasional deep holes 6-8 m. The surroundings and shores of the lakes are largely unaffected by construction or agriculture. No emissions from communities or industries occur. The shores are alternately low-lying, difficult to access and sloping mountains and forest areas. To a large extent soft bottoms but also rocky areas and hard bottoms are found.
The fish population is of the usual lake species. Tench and eels were introduced in the 1950s, at least in Vikasjön, and a few specimens still exist.
