Fishing in Jönköping Municipality!
In the lakes of Jönköping Municipality you will find most of our Swedish fish species. In Vättern alone, Sweden's second largest lake, there are a whopping 31 different species. In addition to Vättern, where you have a good chance of catching salmon, trout and char, there are a number of lakes with good stocks of pike, zander and perch, among others.
For example, try Landsjön at Kaxholmen for large pikes or head to Stora Nätaren or Ylen, outside Lekeryd, for fine zander. Or why not the Bunn lakes, east of Gränna, where you will find both! The lakes are excellent for trolling, spinning and vertical fishing. Pike and zander over 10kg swim here!
Choose between city fishing in the middle of Jönköping, or head out into the beautiful Småland forests for a wonderful nature experience. Fishing in Jönköping and Huskvarna, in Munksjön, Rocksjön and Huskvarnaån is, just like fishing in Vättern, completely free. These are waters that can offer great fishing for both our Swedish predators, but also great fishing for roach, bream and tench for anglers. Keep in mind that even though fishing is free, you must print out a fishing license for Munksjön and Rocksjön on the Jönköping municipality website. It is a good way to spread information about the fishing rules that apply and to follow up on how many people are fishing in the lakes.
For fly fishermen, fishing for rainbow trout in Ulvstorpasjön - near Axamo airport, about ten miles west of Jönköping - or rainbow trout fishing in Bottnaryd where there are three lakes to choose from. All in a scenic environment.
