The fishing in Storuman municipality is fantastic in all seasons!

In Storuman there are more than 2400 lakes and smaller watercourses and means endless opportunities for fishing and outdoor life, what about the Ume River, for example? There is a large selection here, both for you who prefer to fish on your own and those who prefer to hire a guide. The municipality is large and has several different characters when it comes to fishing environments and fish stocks.

The eastern parts are dominated by the Ume River and the Juktån with a large number of lakes.
The most common species here are grayling, pike and perch. The juktån has undergone a major restoration in recent years after the flotation era and is expected to recover and develop in the next few years.

Pike fishing in this area can be very good in certain periods. Stenselemagasinet and also other parts of the Ume River are very good with pike.

In the central area of the municipality there is Kirjesån and a large number of lakes / ponds. Here the trout begin to dominate the grayling and most waters contain trout and char. Around Slussfors and Umnäs, fantastic fishing is offered both summer and winter for several species in parts of the Ume River, as well as in smaller waters.

In the western part of the municipality around Hemavan and Tärnaby, a very varied fishing is offered. In the mountains, you can fish for trout and char in many waters leased by the county administrative board. Some tips can be Tärnasjön, Ropen and the western parts of Överuman. In the valleys, fishing is managed by fisheries conservation areas, which provide most of the water for fishing. Tärnaån, Jovattsån and Umeälve by Klippen are some hot flowing waters that must be tried. In this area, trout and char are exclusively in the systems. Whitefish and really large Canadian trout are found in the lakes around Tärnaby and in Björkvattnet.
